Designed to help people, businesses and our community get ahead, Career Nexus has created new opportunity for PAID internships in California’s Central Valley that include training and support services to help advance you to successful, long-term careers.
We do this by building a strong, 3-way connection between interns, employers and education/training partners, all aimed at increasing work-based learning opportunities for job seekers like you.
The result? With Career Nexus, stronger career pathways are being opened to high-demand, good-paying careers in the greater Fresno region… and you can be part of the diverse, inspired and highly-prepared workforce that fills them!
How Does CAREER NEXUS Work?
With Career Nexus, you’ll gain valuable paid internship experience that gives you real workplace training and insight into the careers available throughout a range of industries here in the greater Fresno region. Best of all, Career Nexus will help you identify careers that are the best match for your strengths and interests!
The first step is to fill out the interest form at the bottom of this page. Then once you’re accepted into Career Nexus, you’ll complete an online interest and skills assessment to help guide you in applying for the most meaningful internship opportunities.
You’ll also complete the Career Nexus: Work Readiness Certificate program to get up-to-speed on emerging technologies, important life skills and basic employability traits that all industries look for when hiring new employees. The Career Nexus: Work Readiness Certificate training and hands-on internship experience will greatly contribute to your career and personal success for a lifetime.
Then, as a Career Nexus intern, you’ll be gaining valuable hands-on work experience and building important connections with employers that will pave the way toward future career success.

What Kinds of Internships Are Available?
Currently, Career Nexus is engaging with employers and work-based learning opportunities in the following industries and roles:
- Manufacturing (Warehouse Personnel, CNC Operator, Safety/Human Resources, Social Media Manager, Welding)
- Public Institutions (Virtual Digital Media and Marketing, Business Services)
- Banking (Business Services)
City of Fresno Internships
Career Nexus is also partnering with the City of Fresno to recruit and train interns for over one hundred paid internship positions at the City. These paid positions range from inside office-type positions at City Hall to field-work with the Public Works Department to outdoor positions with the Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services Department.
Career positions in these industries are plentiful and offer valuable insight into a diverse range of career opportunities in these sectors. In future years, Career Nexus will expand its industry employers, so be sure to watch this webpage for updates!
How Do I Become a CAREER NEXUS Intern?
The first and most important step is to fill out the Intern Interest form. Then one of our Career Nexus coaches will reach out to you.
Next, be ready to complete the necessary training as part of the Career Nexus: Work Readiness Certificate program.
Our intern participants range from high school seniors and graduates to college students and young adults, all with one thing in common: the desire for a rewarding career and a secure future.
